Master of Healthcare Administration Online

This degree was designed to address the rapidly changing healthcare environment and to enhance the student-centered focus of the Keith Busse School of Business and Entrepreneurial Leadership by supporting the professional development of healthcare professionals.

The MHA trains students to:

  • Gain a sound base of knowledge about various administrative functional areas to enhance their understanding of complex healthcare systems.
  • Enhance ability to approach complex problems systematically and imaginatively to develop effective solutions
  • Prepare for assuming positions of increased managerial/administrative responsibility and contributing to the creation of a high performing workplace.
  • Expand capacity to perceive and adjust to changing healthcare organizational environments.
  • Enhance confidence and expertise to make decisions in the face of ambiguity or conflicting information.
  • Obtain a set of skills that would contribute to a greater sense of fulfillment and accomplishment in addressing personal and organizational goals.

The healthcare industry is experiencing dynamic changes and reliable growth, and professionals need the skills and development to stay on the cutting edge. The Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) draws on expertise of the Keith Busse School of Business and Entrepreneurial Leadership to support healthcare professionals with training and practical experiences directly related to on-the-job challenges. USF uniquely prepares students in the theories that inform business and healthcare administration, the issues and best practices in the field, plus practical experiences that make them more effective healthcare leaders.

The MHA degree is also available to students who have already earned an MBA through the MHA completion track.

Degree Requirements

  • Master of Healthcare Administration Online requires 36 credit hours.
  • MBA to MHA Completion Track requires 24 credit hours in addition to 12 credit hours achieved through an MBA program.

Admission Requirements

Applicants to the Master of Healthcare Administration Online must meet the following criteria:

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution*
  • Possess a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • If the cumulative GPA is below 2.75 with less than five years professional work experience the applicant must take the GMAT and submit scores to the university for review.

To apply for the Master of Healthcare Administration Online, students must:

  • Submit online application for admission
  • Submit official bachelor or higher degree granting transcript
  • Submit a letter expressing professional goals in pursuing the degree

To apply for the Master of Healthcare Administration Completion Track Online, students must:

  • Possess a Master of Business Administration from a regionally accredited school.
  • Submit online application for admission
  • Submit official MBA transcript
  • Submit a letter expressing professional goals in pursuing the degree

*Note: Applicants possessing a bachelor’s degree or higher from a non-regionally accredited institution, may take the GMAT for admission consideration. Scores of 500 or above are required for admission.

Transcripts are official only if sent directly to the Office of Admissions from the registrar of the institution attended.
